Mirror Lake: Mt. Hood National Forest

We got an early start one morning...

...and drove to Mirror Lake...

...in the Mt. Hood National Forest.

                                                      It felt like sacred space...

                                                    ...in the muffled quiet...

                                                  ...among the ancient trees...

                                                        ...and lush moss.

At one point, we did have a strange feeling...

                                              ...that someone else was there...

                                                   ...but the feeling passed. ')

                                                         My trail companions...

                                                        ...Elizabeth and Adam.

                                                 After hiking for several miles...

...we came to the lake itself.

                                                 Fringed with pretty bushes...

                                                   ...ferns and wildflowers...

...you can easily see how it acquired its name!

                                                        A perfect reflection...

                                                        ...and a perfect day!

Rachel--It was glorious...and so peaceful!
(It was only as we started back that we met others walking towards the lake.)
